Dr. Vincent Ho Wai-fung

Dr. Vincent Ho Wai-fung graduated from the then Department of Communication (now the School of Communication) at Hong Kong Baptist College in 1993, majoring in Film and Video. Dr. Ho is recognised for his vision and leadership at the intersection of media, arts, and emerging technologies. As an early advocate for the digitalisation of visual storytelling, he ventured beyond traditional confines to embrace newly emerging media in the industry. He has dedicated more than 30 years to integrating traditional cinematic techniques with technological advancements.
Dr. Ho has shown his openness and close engagement with emerging industry trends throughout his career. With years of experiences in various media companies, he gained substantial insights into the regional media landscape. His leadership was recognised during his tenure as CEO of Southern Media Corporation's mobile television licensing business. In 2004, in collaboration with a leading mobile and telecom service provider in Hong Kong, he produced Asia’s first 3G mobile microfilm series, Love 123, which received multiple Hong Kong ICT Awards. In 2013, his film Love, Xi Shi Tofu won the Best Short Film Award in a competition organised by China Central Television (CCTV)’s short film channel. In 2015, the film Love Forever, directed by Dr. Ho, won an award for its special contribution at the 24th China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the advancement and application of digital technologies in media and arts. This demonstrates his profound capacity to adjust to an evolving media landscape and drive multidisciplinary innovation.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Ho is committed to public service and to promoting the arts in Hong Kong and on the Chinese Mainland. He is currently a member of the 13th Jilin Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, where he also serves as Chairman of its Arts Criticism Group. He is also President of the Hong Kong Film Critics Association and Director of the Hong Kong Rosamond Foundation. In these roles, he actively supports talent cultivation for the creative industry and promotes Chinese culture among the public. With a long-standing commitment to the development of national brands, Dr. Ho has contributed immensely by promoting the introduction of the Chinese national automobile brand Hongqi into Hong Kong.
Despite his extensive commitments across various sectors, Dr. Ho remains a dedicated supporter of his alma mater. He produced one of the ten short films celebrating the HKBU 60th Anniversary. He also serves as an Honorary Court member of HKBU and actively participates in university events. As the Founding President of the HKBU Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area, he played a pivotal role in strengthening connections among alumni in the Greater Bay Area. Dr. Ho truly exemplifies the "Whole-Person" quality, demonstrating a perfect balance between intellectual rigour and a strong commitment to societal advancement, and serves as a lasting inspiration to the HKBU community.
