Prof. Sunny Wong Hak-kun

Mr. Sunny Wong is Executive Director of Tibet Water Resources Limited, a listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He graduated from the Department of Business Management of Hong Kong Baptist College in 1978 and obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Bath University in 2001.

Mr. Wong has more than 30 years of successful experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry in China, in which 25 years were gained in the beer market working for top international beer companies including Carlsberg and Bass Brewers. From 2011 to 2014, he was Chairman of Carlsberg Greater China. Apart from his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carlsberg from 2006 to 2014, Mr. Wong was also the chief of mergers and acquisitions team responsible for the company’s long-term development in China. Since 2002, the team has succeeded in acquiring 59 breweries in 12 provinces, increasing the production plants to 60 with a total workforce of 15,000. With his outstanding leadership and the efforts of Mr. Wong and his team, the company’s local regional brands held the highest or second highest market share position in these provinces with strong distribution network, and the Carlsberg brand became the second largest in the international premium segment in China’s beer market.

Since 2009, Mr. Wong has been actively delivering talks on various leadership topics to government and business institutions, universities and secondary schools in Hong Kong. He is now a mentor of students and graduates of some local universities. He cares greatly about his alma mater and is currently Honorary Director and member of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation as well as Programme Advisor of the Master of Science in Global Marketing Management Programme of the School of Business. He also serves as Member of the Advisory Board of Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour Programme of Lingnan University and was recently appointed as Adjunct Professor of the School of Business of Hang Seng Management College and Feng Chia University in Taiwan.
