HKBU Organises "BU Alumni Ensemble in the GBA - Leaping Forward: Art-tech and Scientific Research" in Shenzhen

Event Information

“BU Alumni Ensemble in the GBA” was successfully held on 6 December at Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Nanshan, China. Hosting nearly 300 alumni, the event was an engagement initiative that aimed to bring together alumni from the Greater Bay Area under the theme “Leaping Forward: Art-tech and Scientific Research”. The event began with three sharing given by HKBU senior management on the latest developments and achievements of the University in art-tech, innovation and scientific research. Professor Martin Wong, Provost, proudly shared the recent accomplishments of HKBU, including the rise in university ranking and research highlights in areas such as Chinese medicine, data analytics and artificial intelligence. Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Acting Dean of Arts, focused on sharing the University’s efforts to provide students with best learning experience through transdisciplinary undergraduate programmes and congratulated HKBU students on their recent triumphs. Meanwhile, Ms Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary updated on news in relation to campus infrastructures such as the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, the Visualization Research Centre as well as the Chinese Medicine Hospital.

The event also featured a students’ sharing session during which two second-year students from the transdisciplinary programmes, facilitated by Dr Chau, shared their experience and benefits gained from the programmes. Alumni were glad to learn more about the University’s determination to train future-ready students. The sharing session was followed by a performance by SENZA A Cappella, an alumni vocal group. After the programme came to an end, alumni stayed behind, mingled and got to know each other, and made new connections. The University would continue to launch initiatives to tighten the bonding among alumni in Mainland China and explore new collaboration opportunities with Mainland alumni leaders.
