HKBU Alumni Association of Australia Organises a Luncheon in Celebration of the 66th Anniversary of HKBU

On 21 March, HKBU Alumni Association of Australia (HKBUAA of Australia) organised a luncheon at Zilver Restaurant, Sydney in celebration of the 66th Anniversary of HKBU. The function was honoured by the presence of Ms Trista Lim, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Sydney (HKETO).
The luncheon was well attended by alumni, including President Sidney Cheng (Communication), Vice-President Lawrence Chan (Communication), Prof Yip Kam-shing (Social Work) and his spouse, Henie Chu (Communication/Secretarial Management), Peter Chu (Chemistry), Richard Lam (Communication) and his spouse Mabel Lam, their family members, as well as Prof Edward Fung, the former Head of Department of History of HKBU, and his spouse. Also participating in the luncheon are representatives of the Australian alumni associations from other universities of Hong Kong, including Mr Joey Tang, Mr Owen Wong and Mr Steve Lam, respectively the President, Vice-President and Former President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Association Australia; Mr. Bosco Lau, Honorary President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Australia) Association and his spouse, they all sent their sincere congratulations to the Association. It was the first activity of the Association in 2022 that was attended by three Australia alumni associations of universities from Hong Kong.
In his opening remarks, President Sidney Cheng warmly welcomed all guests and thanked them for jointly celebrate the anniversary of HKBU. Ms Lim shared with the guests the latest developments and future plans of HKETO. In her speech, she also sent her heartfelt congratulations to HKBU and further pledged to maintain a close connection with the alumni associations of Hong Kong higher education institutions in Australia. Representatives from the alumni associations of the three universities also shared their recent activities respectively.
Prof Edward Fung was invited to deliver a talk on the topic: “My teaching career at Baptist (College, University): the role of private institution in the higher education sector of Hong Kong ” on this celebratory occasion. Guests all enjoyed the very informative as well as light-hearted talk of Prof Fung.
