Gold Go Run and Alumni Soccer Seven of Homecoming 2021 Strengthen Alumni Relations

Event Information

Themed “A Journey to HKBU Treasure”, Homecoming 2021 is comprised of various programmes organised by the Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) for alumni to explore and enjoy the treasures of their alma mater. In addition to the two recently held Homecoming programmes, respectively the BU Treasure Snap Check Photo Contest and the Campus Tours- BU Heritage Trails, the Gold Go Run and the Alumni Soccer Seven have been successfully held at the Joint Sports Centre on 13 November.

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS). To celebrate this important milestone, the FSS joined hands with AAO to organise the “Gold Go Run” event, which provided an opportunity for alumni to strengthen the bonding among themselves, and to get connected to, and build up loyalty with their alma mater. Over 180 participants, including alumni and their families and friends, joined the event and enjoyed the leisure run together.

Sponsored by Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association (HKBUAA), the Alumni Soccer Seven also received an overwhelming response from nearly 200 alumni from different generations and disciplines. A total of 17 teams were formed to compete respectively in the Challenge Cup, the Open Division and the Advance Division of the Alumni Soccer Seven. The Alumni Soccer Seven has been a popular event among the HKBU alumni community over the years.

The two events were graced by the presence of Professor Rick Wong, Interim Provost; Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Professor Ricky Wong, Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) cum Academic Registrar; Professor Daniel Lai, Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences; Professor Chung Pak-kwong, Associate Dean (Development) of Faculty of Social Sciences and Acting Director of Student Affairs; Professor Clara Ho, Head of Department of History; Professor Gina Lai, Head of Department of Sociology and Dr Melanie Lee, Director of Alumni Affairs, all of whom officiated at the kick-off ceremony of Gold Go Run cum Alumni Soccer Seven.
