Campus Filled with Fun on Homecoming Day

Different corners of the HKBU campus were filled with fun and laughter on Homecoming Day 2011
(26 November, Saturday).
Themed "A Passion for Life at HKBU" (浸大人.愛生活), this year's Homecoming Day Carnival at Podium 5 of the Ho Sin Hang Campus featured sections dedicated to Lifestyle for Wellness and Beauty, Technology.Creativity, Living in Arts and Kinetic Fun. Alumni and their families enjoyed visiting different game, handcraft and sales booths and watching vibrant performances. To extend a warm welcome to alumni, a welcome ceremony featuring a welcome dance by HKBU Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School and a wish-making ceremony was held. Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu Hoo-kin welcomed alumni and asked them to come back more often to witness the development of the University. The ceremony ended on a happy note with alumni from different decades taking photographs with the University's President and Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Presidents on the stage.
At the Joint Sports Centre, alumni infused the soccer pitch with energy and team spirit in the BU-7 Soccer Match. A total of 10 teams participated in the "Open Match" and the "Advanced Match". HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Albert S C Chan and Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu Hoo-kin officiated at the kick-off ceremony to mark the start of the matches. At AC Hall, President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Albert S C Chan presented medals to alumni who graduated in 1986, 1981, 1976, 1971, 1966 and 1961 to recognise their contributions to their families and society.
Closing the Day was the Alumni Reunion Dinner at Renfrew Restaurant where alumni enjoyed catching up with friends amid waiting for the lucky draw results. With over 320 alumni attending, the dinner was a full-house event. One of the highlights was the fundraising "shrimp and broccoli" culinary performance by Chairman of the Council and the Court Mr. Wilfred Wong Ying-wai and wine donated by Associate Vice-President Prof. Frank Fu Hoo-kin. The response to the dish and wine package of HK$550 was overwhelming with six alumni successfully placing bids. All proceeds went to the University.
The solo singing performance by Alumnus and Treasurer of the Council and the Court Mr. William Leung Wing-cheung also won rounds of applause. The dinner ended on a celebratory note when Alumnus Mr. Albert Au Sui-keung led the gathering in singing "Happy Birthday" to HKBU.
Ms. Melanie Lee Wai-yi, Director of Alumni Affairs expressed heart-felt thanks to alumni and sponsors, including CSL, Microsoft, HK386 Limited, LHGroup, 2eighttwo8 Fashion Company, Academy of Visual Arts and HKBU's Institute for the Advancement of Chinese Medicine Limited, for their staunch support which enabled Homecoming Day to be a fun and joyous event for alumni.
