Alumni Affairs Office Joins Forces with Department of Biology in the “Distribution of HOCI Hand Sanitizers to the Community Programme”

Alumni Affairs Office joined forces with Department of Biology in a campaign to donate hand sanitizers, Hypochlorous Acid (HOCI), to NGOs and schools, to help them fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the generous donation of the HOCI raw materials from Mr. Brian Cheng, the first batch of hand sanitizers was sent to Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School on 27 April. Representatives from HKBU Biology Alumni Association and Department of Biology, as well as students from Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School and organic ambassadors from Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre formed a volunteer team to prepare the hand sanitizers for the needy community. With the facilitation of Alumni Affairs Office, the hand sanitizers were well-packed for delivery to NGOs.
Besides, Professor Jonathan Wong, Head of Department of Biology, was interviewed by alumnus Lawrence Cheng Tan-shui (Communication) on his online programme《健康旦》, during which Professor Wong shared the initiative of the donation campaign and the sanitising effect of Hypochlorous Acid on the COVID-19 virus.
