HKBU Century Club Sponsors the Citywide English Poetry Competition 2020
Event Information
HKBU Century Club sponsored the Citywide English Poetry Competition, which was co-organised by Department of English Language and Literature, Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, Academy of Visual Arts, and the International Writers’ Workshop at HKBU as well as the Hong Kong Poetry Festival Foundation. On 25 April, alumna Dr. Helen Kwok, Secretary of the Club, delivered the opening remarks at the online Award Presentation Ceremony of the event.
The Club’s sponsorship will help encourage undergraduate students to hone their skills and share their interest in poetry, as well as to help build HKBU as the hub for creative writing. This year, 85 entries from students across seven UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong were received. The shortlisted poems were also turned into creative artwork by students from HKBU’s Academy of Visual Arts. The first place was awarded to Felix Chow Yue-ching, HKU student, for his work “Yellow Stains on Your Chinese Blue”.
For the purpose of providing financial support for teaching, research and student development projects that would contribute to the betterment and sustainable growth of the University, HKBU Century Club has established the Century Club Sponsorship Scheme since 2008.
