Three Alumni Deliver Online SEED Talk to Share Their Expertise in O2O Businesses

Event Information

Foreseeing the challenges the graduating cohort will encounter during the current economic downturn, Hong Kong Baptist University has recently launched Project SEED to help students better prepare for employment and unleash their career potential by engaging with BU community leaders.

One of the Project SEED events was the online “SEED Talk” organised by the Alumni Affairs Office on 7 May which was moderated by Dr. Henry Fock, Head of Department of Marketing of HKBU. Entitled “From Online to Offline, how BU graduates excel in the O2O businesses”, the talk featured alumna Karen Chan, Executive Director of German Pool (Hong Kong) Limited and Adjunct Professor of the Department of Marketing at HKBU, alumnus Dr. Angus Cheong, Founder and CEO of ERS e-Research & Solutions, and alumnus Andrew Wong, Chief Executive of the Jardine Restaurant Group. During the event, the speakers shared their business experience and strategies in the online-to-offline business world, as well as insights into how graduates can excel amid the coronavirus challenge.

The SEED Talk attracted over 400 registrants, including students, staff and alumni. The audience enjoyed interacting with speakers and learning more about the practical O2O experience from them. The talk can be viewed here.

The University is going full steam ahead to get students and young alumni connected to notable and inspiring speakers through a series of SEED Talks. The upcoming ones will feature speakers such as award-winning sinophone writer Mr. Chan Koonchung, young entrepreneur Mr. Steven Lam, Co-Founder and CEO of GOGOVAN, and Top Ten Young Innovator from Asia Pacific named by MIT’s Technology Review alumna Dr. Cathy Lui (Biology).
