Mask Donation Campaign

Event Information

The Alumni Affairs Office has supported a group of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) staff volunteers led by the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning to collect surgical masks for the needy community. In the first phase of the appeal for donation of masks (5 - 7 February), over 1,800 surgical masks were collected and donated to “Kung Yung Koon-Shabnam” and “Hong Kong Blind Union” to support grassroots ethnic minorities, people with visual impairment, elderly people who are living alone, and those with chronic illness.

We would like to express our gratitude to the following alumni who have donated surgical masks and/or taken voluntary role to support this meaningful initiative:

Dr. Chan Wai Hong, Daricks (Mathematics)
Ms. Lam Siu Yung, Nancy (English Language & Literature)
Ms. Hon Chu Kwong, Winnie (Communication)
Ms. Wong Ka Yan, Amy (Humanities)
Ms. Yung Shui Fan, Sheila (Business Administration)

The second phase of the appeal campaign has just been completed (11-16 February). All masks collected will be donated to “Christian Family Service Centre” and “Amigos”. We are grateful for the support of alumni to donate surgical masks for this good cause.

Ms. Cindy Chan, Director of Centre for Innovative Service-Learning has recently been interviewed by an online media, “on.cc” about the Mask Donation Campaign. Please click here to view the video.
