Recent Festive Gatherings of HKBU Alumni Association of Australia

Event Information

HKBU Alumni Association of Australia organised a Christmas gathering on 12 December 2019 at Zilver Restaurant, Sydney, which was attended by President Sidney Cheng (Communication), Clara Cheng (Social Work), Peggy Siu (Secretarial Management) and her spouse Andrew Chan, Augustus Ho (Physics) and his spouse, Peter Chu (Chemistry), Richard Lam (Communication), Leung Ting-chun (Civil Engineering) and his spouse Chan Bun-yee (Civil Engineering), Ken Yip (Social Work) and his spouse. Special guests of the gathering included former Head of Department of History of HKBU, Prof. Edward Fung and his spouse, President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Association of Australia Owen Wong and former President Steve Lam, President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (Australia) Association Joseph Yu and Committee Member Karen Tam. The Association also extended a warm welcome to Ms. Charmaine Wong, a representative of the Australian Regional Sales Office of Regal Hotels International, who joined the gathering for the first time.

The Association was honoured to have Lawyer Karen Tam to give a talk on the latest immigration law of Australia, following which Ms. Charmaine Wong was invited to host the lucky draw and present fabulous prizes to the lucky ones at the gathering. All alumni and guests had a great and happy time.

On 18 January 2020, the Association also organised a Chinese New Year Eve gathering at the residence of Peggy Siu and her spouse Andrew Chan, which is at Bella Vista, Sydney. Attending guests of this gathering included alumni President Sidney Cheng and his spouse, Vice-President Lawrence Chan (Communication) and his spouse, Clara Cheng, Eddie Chu (Communication) and his spouse Henie Tsang (Secretarial Management), Richard Lam, Leung Ting-chun and his spouse Chan Bun-yee, Ken Yip and his spouse, and their friends and families.

Hosts Peggy Siu and Andrew Chan extended warm hospitality to all invited guests, who had a wonderful time singing, dancing, playing table tennis, riddle games and enjoying delicious festive food together. They also took the opportunity to send to each other their best wishes in the Year of the Rat.

All alumni, retired or former academic and administrative staff of the University residing in Australia are welcome to join the Association and participate in its events and gatherings.
