Hong Kong Baptist University Alumni Association of the Greater Bay Area (GBAAA) Stages Inauguration Ceremony cum Greater Bay Area Alumni IT Expo in Shenzhen

Event Information

The Inauguration Ceremony cum Greater Bay Area Alumni IT Expo of the GBAAA was staged successfully in Shenzhen on 11 January 2020. The event was graced by the presence of the following honorable guests and members of the HKBU senior management: Representative of Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Mr. Luo Hao; Assistant to Secretary, Shenzhen Nanshan Technology Bureau Dr. Lan Xin; Treasurer of HKBU Council and Court Ms. Rosanna Choi; President Prof. Roland Chin and Mrs. Zina Chin; Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr. Albert Chau; Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr. C.K. Yeung; Dean, School of Business Prof. Edward Snape; Dean, School of Continuing Education Prof. Ronald Chung; and Dean, Faculty of Science Prof. Zhang Jianhua. Also attending are heads of various departments of the University and HKBU alumni leaders from Hong Kong. Around 150 alumni and guests residing in the Greater Bay Area joined the event. The establishment of the GBAAA has indeed marked an important milestone for the University in strengthening bonds with alumni on the Mainland.

At the Inauguration Ceremony, President Chin highlighted the achievements of various alumni and shared with the participants the latest developments of the University. In his welcome speech, Founding President of GBAAA alumnus Dr. Vincent Ho (Communication) expressed his gratitude to both the University and alumni leaders for their support, and shared with the audience the Association’s 10-year plan of connecting and engaging alumni in the Greater Bay Area and enhancing the positive impact of the HKBU alumni community in the Greater Bay Area. Taking this opportunity, Prof. Edward Snape, Prof. Zhang Jianhua and Prof. Ronald Chung also shared with guests the latest developments and achievements of the School of Business, the Faculty of Science and the School of Continuing Education respectively. After the inauguration ceremony, the Greater Bay Area Alumni IT Expo was formally announced open at the same venue to showcase the innovative enterprise projects of HKBU alumni in the Area.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, the University delegation and honorable guests were invited to a luncheon hosted by GBAAA at The Summit Club 2030. During the luncheon, Chairman of Alumni Committee of HKBU Foundation alumnus Sunny Wong (Business Management) shared with the audience his joyful views on the establishment of GBAAA. Mementoes were presented by GBAAA to each of the honorable guests, Honorary Advisors and Co-founding alumni associations in appreciation of their support for the Association.
