Outstanding Alumni in Property Sector Encourage Students at HKBU 55th Anniversary Alumni Sharing Forum

Event Information

The University held the third session of the Alumni Sharing Forum series last Thursday (26 May 2011) to celebrate its 55th Anniversary. Three outstanding alumni from the property development and management profession shared their precious working and personal experience with about 130 guests, alumni, staff and students. The three alumni were all veteran professionals with more than 30 years of solid experience in property development and management. They were Mr. Justin Chiu Kwok-hung (Sociology), Executive Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd; Mr. Michael Choi Ngai-ming (Business Management), Chairman of Land Power International Holdings Ltd.; and Dr. Jacinto Tong Men-leung (Economics), Chief Executive Officer of Gale Well Group Ltd.

Mr. Justin Chiu Kwok-hung advised students to take their personalities into consideration before joining the property development profession. For example, he said, sales and marketing jobs are more suitable for agile and aggressive people, while management work suits people with good coordinating and thinking skills. Mr. Michael Choi Ngai-ming, who has focused his work on the Mainland real estate market in this decade, encouraged students who wish to start their career in Mainland China to take the time to understand the culture, system and the operations of different types of businesses there. Dr. Jacinto Tong Men-leung suggested the younger generation consider the market situation carefully as well as how much they can afford to spend before purchasing a property.
