Students Meet Alumni at The Fifth HKBU Distinguished Alumni Award High Table Dinner
Event Information
On 12 June, the Fifth HKBU Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) High Table Dinner was held by Alumni Affairs Office on HKBU Campus which was well-attended by 190 students, alumni and guests. Graced by the presence of Chairman of the Council and the Court Mr. Cheng Yan-kee, Treasurer Ms. Rosanna Choi, President Prof. Roland Chin, Selection Committee member of DAA, Mr. Lester Huang and other senior management of the University, this 3-hour event was a great success providing opportunity for students and young alumni to fully interact with DAA recipients and be inspired by their insights and advice.
In his welcoming remarks, Chairman Cheng highlighted the achievements of the Award recipients and their remarkable contribution made to the alma mater and society. He said as achievers, the recipients are role models for fellow students to learn from their success and experience.
Based on the topic “The Way to Surf and Serve”, attending students and young alumni had a dialogue with the Award recipients of this year who are alumni Mr. Ronnie Cheng (Education Studies), Dr. Eddie Chui (Chemistry / Chinese Medicine) and Mr. Patrick Siu (Geography / Communication). Though Ms. Kitty Lun (Communication) was not able to attend the dinner, she video-taped her sharing for showing at the dinner. Led by Dr. Henry Fock, Head and Associate Professor of Department of Marketing, the sharing session in which the Award recipients answered different questions from the floor, fully engaged all guests.
To promote interactions among participants, an ice-breaking game and an online game via Kahoot platform were conducted, with all guests showing their keen participation.
