Alumni Affairs Office organized the Public Lecture: An Xtreme Life – an encounter with alumnus Wilson Cheung and Dr. Rebecca Lee on 15 March 2018, in collaboration with HKBU Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Department of Geography.
At the lecture, Dr. Rebecca Lee, the world’s first female explorer to reach the "four poles" of the world and Founder of Polar Museum Foundation, shared her adventures and experiences in polar expedition. Alumnus Wilson Cheung (Physical Education and Recreation Management), currently an expedition consultant and polar specialist, also talked about his encounters and challenges during his work at the Poles.
Their sharing was followed by a panel discussion moderated by alumna Michelle Au (Government and International Studies; Environmental and Public Health Management), Political Assistant to the Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR. During the discussion, the speakers shared thoughts on the impact of climate change on polar eco-system and called for society’s more support to protect the environment.
Prof. Chung Pak-kwong, Head of Department of Physical Education of HKBU was the master of ceremonies.
The lecture attracted a full house of over 400 audience, including educationists, HKBU alumni, staff, and students, and also students from a number of secondary schools who were all inspired by the sharing of experience and insights of the speakers.
