Display of a Gold Watch donated by Emeritus President Dr. Daniel Tse at the Ground-floor Lobby of Academic and Administration Building of HKBU Campus

Emeritus President Dr. Daniel Tse Chi-wai generously donated an OMEGA gold watch in 2013 for HKBU alumni to raise funds to support the long-term development of the University. In response to Dr. Tse’s invitation, six alumni donors, Ms. Delia Chan Wai-sheung, Mr. Dickson Shang Tat-yan, Mr. Wong Nga-chung, Mr. Wu Po-kung, Mr. William Leung Wing-cheung and Ms. Marianna Tsang Wai-chun, have jointly donated HK$1.5 million to support the “Daniel and Kitty Tse Visiting Professorship Scheme” of their alma mater.
The story can be dated back to 1971. The watch was a precious gift for Dr. Tse from all the academic and administrative staff of Hong Kong Baptist College to celebrate his appointment as President of the College. To commemorate the love and care from the former colleagues, Dr. Tse specially composed a poem which was then written in artistic Chinese calligraphy by Dr. Lau Chak-kwong, Associate Professor of Academy of Visual Arts. .
The watch together with the calligraphy work is now on exhibition at the ground-floor lobby of Academic and Administration Building on Baptist University Road Campus. All staff, students and alumni are welcome to come and appreciate this meaningful precious item. By the wish of Dr. Tse, the watch will be displayed on the campus permanently.
