HKBU Council Dinner in honour of Honorary Doctorate Recipients 2013

At the 54th Commencement on 25 November 2013, honorary doctoral degrees were conferred on five distinguished persons in recognition of their outstanding academic, research or professional achievements as well as their remarkable contributions to society.
Professor Chen Kaixian (MCAS), a world-class leader in drug discovery, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa. Professor Wai Chee Dimock, a literary explorer across boundaries, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa. Dr. Kennedy Wong, a philanthropic solicitor and entrepreneur, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa. Mr. Wilfred Wong, a business and political leader dedicated to serving the community, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa. Professor Wu Jianmin, a veteran diplomat who creates opportunities and builds bridges, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa.
In the same evening, the University hosted the Council Dinner in honour of Honorary Doctorate Recipients. On behalf of the Council and the Court, Chairman Mr. Cheng Yan-kee extended his warm welcome to these Honorary Doctorate Recipients, their family members and guests at his opening address.
Paying tribute to the Honorary Doctorate Recipients, alumna and Senior Lecturer of HKBU Department of Physical Education Dr. Judy Ip Kit-wan, together with guest performer Mr. Jason Li performed a fabulous Latin dance as the finale of the event.
